Air France launches direct Paris–Phuket flights as Thailand targets more European visitors
Air France has begun direct flights between Paris and Phuket as Thailand seeks to draw more long-haul travellers from Europe and increase tourism revenue from high-spending markets.
Thailand’s tourism authority on Thursday welcomed the airline’s inaugural Flight AF156, which arrived in Phuket at 9.25am after departing Paris the previous day. The new seasonal service, operated with a Boeing 777-200, runs three times a week through March.

Tourism officials said the route supports Thailand’s effort to expand air links and attract more visitors from France, the country’s fifth-largest long-haul market.
From 1 January to 23 November, 710,968 French travellers visited Thailand, up 13.8% from a year earlier, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
“This new connection strengthens our ability to reach quality long-haul travellers, particularly from the French market, which continues to show strong growth,” said Suladda Sarutilawan, TAT’s director for Europe. “Phuket’s high-value tourism offerings make it an ideal gateway for visitors seeking wellness, marine activities and longer stays.”

THAILAND VISIT
“Trusted Thailand”
Thailand has launched a “Trusted Thailand” certification to rebuild traveller confidence and attract more Chinese visitors. The scheme, led by TAT and its partners, will recognise hotels, restaurants, attractions and shopping centres that meet national safety and service standards, supporting plans to boost tourism revenue in 2026.

Air France said Phuket is its second Thai destination for the winter schedule, in addition to its year-round twice-daily Paris–Bangkok service.
“We aim to provide French travellers with a convenient and safe option to experience Phuket’s natural beauty and cultural diversity,” said Femke Kroese, the airline’s general manager for Southeast Asia and Oceania. “We believe this route will expand travel choices and deliver a comfortable journey throughout the season.”
The airline operates flights from Paris to Phuket on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with return flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Thai tourism officials expect arrivals from France to reach about 846,000 by the end of 2025.
