Thailand welcomes Muay Thai enthusiasts and families to promote sport tourism and honour Muay Thai Heritage.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), in collaboration with the World Boxing Council Muay Thai (WBC), is launching the “Amazing Thailand Muay Thai Summer Camp with WBC” from 16 to 28 July 2024. This event promises an extraordinary experience for enthusiasts of the ancient art of Muay Thai.

The initiative was unveiled at a press conference held at Suan Bua Restaurant, Centara Grand at Central Plaza Ladprao. Key figures in attendance included Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor for Europe, Americas, Middle East, and Africa Markets at TAT; Colonel Thanapol Bhakdibhumi, Chairman of WBC Muay Thai; Kevin Noone, Secretary-General of WBC Muay Thai; and Bridger Walker, WBC Ambassador from the United States, accompanied by his family.

The camp aims to showcase Thai culture through Muay Thai, offering British youths and parents a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the sport’s birthplace while exploring Thailand’s diverse attractions. This initiative is in line with TAT’s “5 Must Do in Thailand” strategy, which highlights Muay Thai as a prominent element of sports tourism.

Participants will train at renowned facilities such as the Superbon Training Camp in Bangkok and the Fairtex Training Camp in Pattaya. The programme culminates in a competition at the Fairtex Training Camp on 24th July 2024, ensuring a dynamic blend of learning and practical experience under the expert guidance of WBC Muay Thai professionals.

“The Amazing Thailand Muay Thai Summer Camp with WBC is designed to promote Thai tourism through Muay Thai, offering British youths and parents the opportunity to travel to Thailand, learn, and train in Muay Thai at its birthplace, while also enjoying the country’s tourism attractions,” says Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, Deputy Governor of TAT.

Beyond training, participants will visit iconic Muay Thai venues such as Rajadamnern Stadium and Lumpinee Stadium, and engage in a ceremony at Wat Tuk in Ayutthaya Province, honouring Muay Thai’s cultural significance. Bridger Walker’s presence as an Ambassador underscores the event’s international appeal and its tribute to Muay Thai’s heritage.
