Thailand has launched a nationwide digital immigration platform that allows foreign visitors to complete arrival registration before landing, part of an effort to reduce waiting times at border checkpoints and modernise the country’s immigration services.
The new Thailand Immigration Management System, or THIM, enables travellers to submit immigration information through a web or mobile application in as little as three minutes, according to the Immigration Bureau.
The system is designed to streamline arrivals for the roughly 30 million international visitors who pass through Thailand’s immigration checkpoints each year.

The platform is being introduced through a nationwide pilot programme and currently supports English, Russian, Japanese and Chinese. Additional languages are expected to be added in the coming months.
For the first time, foreign visitors can complete Thailand’s immigration registration digitally before arrival, reducing paperwork at airports and other entry points.
“Our immigration system serves approximately 30 million international tourists each year, and it is our responsibility to ensure that every traveller’s experience at our borders reflects the modern, welcoming nation we are,” said Maj. Gen. Pratchaya Prasansuk, deputy commissioner of the Immigration Bureau.
He said the system would help reduce processing times while strengthening security and improving operational efficiency.
The platform was developed by Digital Identity Co., Ltd. in partnership with the Immigration Bureau and is built on cloud infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services.
According to the developers, the system uses artificial intelligence to extract information from passports and automate parts of the identity-verification process. It is also designed to handle surges in passenger numbers during peak travel periods.
“Thailand’s immigration checkpoints serve as the nation’s front door,” said Natakorn Thanachaihirun, chief executive of Digital Identity Co., Ltd. “THIM was designed to ensure that this gateway is both welcoming and secure.”
The platform is expected to evolve into a broader digital services hub. Planned services include appointment bookings, visa-extension applications and the issuance of immigration-related documents.
The launch comes as Thailand continues to invest in tourism infrastructure and digital services to maintain its position as one of Asia’s most visited destinations. Bangkok was the world’s most visited city by international arrivals in 2025, according to industry rankings.
The new platform is intended to make entering Thailand faster and more convenient while maintaining security standards at the country’s borders.
