Thailand moved a step closer to commercial seaplane travel on Monday as Siam Seaplane opened a new operations hub at Bangkok’s Don Mueang International Airport. The facility will support the launch of the country’s first commercial seaplane network, aimed at improving access to island and coastal destinations.
The company said the new operational base, located in Terminal 1 at Don Mueang Airport, will serve as its headquarters for flight operations, customer services and network expansion while supporting its existing private charter business.

Siam Seaplane plans to position amphibious aircraft as a premium “last-mile” transport option, shortening travel times between Bangkok and waterfront destinations that are often reached by a combination of flights, ferries and road transfers.
The company said its first planned network would cover Thailand’s Andaman coast, linking destinations including Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Ko Phi Phi, Ko Yao Noi, Ko Lanta, Ko Lipe and Trang. A second network would connect Bangkok with destinations such as Pattaya, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Hua Hin, Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan, Ko Tao, Rayong, Ko Chang and Ko Kut, with most flights expected to take around 90 minutes.
Siam Seaplane also plans to establish an operational base in Krabi later this year to support its Andaman expansion.

Chief Executive Worakanya Siripidej said the company was continuing to develop water landing sites and work with authorities on the regulatory framework needed before commercial seaplane services can begin.
“As we continue developing water landing sites and working through the necessary legal and regulatory frameworks, our vision remains clear: connecting people with Thailand’s most beautiful destinations,” Worakanya said.
The company also announced that several of its Thai pilots had obtained internationally recognised seaplane ratings after completing training in France, describing the certification as an important milestone ahead of launching commercial amphibious aircraft operations.
Founded in 2019, Siam Seaplane currently operates private charter and sightseeing flights under its Siam Scenic brand using Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft while preparing to introduce scheduled seaplane services in Thailand.
