Travellers flying between Bangkok and Abu Dhabi now have a new way to make the journey, with Etihad Airways introducing its Airbus A380 on the route for the first time.
The airline launched daily A380 services on 26 October 2026, bringing the double-decker aircraft to Thailand as the busy winter travel season gets underway. The move increases passenger capacity on a popular route connecting Southeast Asia with the Middle East and Europe.
For passengers departing Bangkok, the new service offers more than a direct connection to the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport serves as a hub for onward flights across Etihad’s international network, making the route particularly useful for travellers heading to European destinations.

The A380 is also something of a destination in itself, particularly for those travelling in its premium cabins.
At the top of the experience is The Residence, a private three-room suite accommodating up to two passengers. Spanning 125 square feet, it includes a living room with a reclining sofa, a separate bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower. Dedicated cabin crew, personalised dining and chauffeur services complete the experience.
First Class offers nine private Apartments, each with a reclining leather armchair, a separate bed and sliding doors for privacy. Passengers also have access to an onboard shower.
Business Class occupies part of the upper deck, with 70 seats that convert into fully flat beds. Each has direct aisle access, while The Lobby, a shared lounge and bar area, provides space to stretch out and socialise during the flight.
For most travellers, the experience will be downstairs in Economy, where 415 seats offer adjustable headrests, personal entertainment screens, USB charging and complimentary meals.
