AirAsia has announced the launch of a new route connecting Bangkok to Kathmandu, the heart of the Himalayas and home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Starting 2 October 2024, this four-weekly service will offer Thai travellers an accessible gateway to Nepal’s rich cultural and natural heritage.
The airline is celebrating this new route with a special fare, starting at just THB 2,990 one-way. The promotional fares are available for booking from 12 August to 25 August 2024, with travel valid from 2 October 2024 to 28 March 2025.
“Nepal is a dream destination for many, not only for Thai travellers but for adventurers worldwide. The breathtaking landscapes, vibrant culture, and historical World Heritage architecture make it a must-visit. This new route underscores our commitment to providing more travel options to exciting destinations in South Asia,” noted Santisuk Klongchaiya, CEO of Thai AirAsia, showing excitement about the expansion.
This latest addition brings AirAsia’s network in South Asia to 16 destinations, including popular cities such as Jaipur, Bengaluru, and Colombo. The new Bangkok-Kathmandu service reflects the airline’s strategy to tap into the growing demand for tourism, trade, and business in the region.
Kathmandu, a city steeped in history and culture, offers travellers a chance to explore landmarks like Swayambhunath, known as the Monkey Temple, where the Buddha’s eyes gaze serenely in all directions. The iconic Boudhanath Stupa, a World Heritage site since 1979, and Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, are also among the must-see sites in Nepal.
