The Standing Shiva, famously known as “Golden Boy,” and the Kneeling Female sculptures have arrived in Thailand today at 7 a.m. They are currently undergoing inspection as part of the customs process to ensure their condition, supervised by the Director of the National Museum.

An official handover ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the National Museum, Bangkok.

Golden Boy, discovered in Buriram Province half a century ago, stands at 129 centimeters tall, showcasing unique bronze and fire gilding. Meanwhile, the Kneeling Female sculpture from the 11th century measures 43 centimeters.

Following a looting investigation, the Met has agreed to return both bronze sculptures to Thailand.

The ‘Golden Boy’ is returning to Thailand

The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in America is preparing to repatriate two bronze sculptures, notably the 11th-century ‘Golden Boy’ bronze sculpture, back to Thailand.
