On most evenings, Ratchada moves at Bangkok speed — bright, loud and in constant motion. But for two hours this July, Avani Ratchada Bangkok Hotel plans to slow things down with an event centered on one of life’s simpler pleasures: a good glass of wine.

On July 3, the hotel’s Metro Lounge will host Wine Play: Organic Elegance, a tasting event built around five wines from Famille Perrin, the family-run producer from France’s Southern Rhône Valley. Long associated with expressive Rhône wines, the producer is known for bottles that balance freshness with structure — wines that can feel sun-drenched yet precise.

The tasting offers a small tour through southern France without leaving Bangkok. Expect wines that move from crisp and lively to richer, more layered expressions, reflecting the warmth and complexity of the Rhône’s diverse terroir.

Food, naturally, plays a supporting role.

A spread of cheeses, cold cuts, freshly shucked oysters and canapés will accompany the wines, designed less as a formal pairing and more as an invitation to graze, sip and linger. Two hours of free-flow beverages keep the experience relaxed rather than rigid.

A live jazz performance will provide the soundtrack, adding to the lounge’s easy sophistication. The mood promises to be more intimate gathering than formal wine seminar — the kind of evening where conversation flows as easily as the pours.

FESTIVAL

The Ghosts of Dan Sai Return

Each June, the quiet town of Dan Sai transforms into a riot of colour, sound and spectacle as Phi Ta Khon, Thailand’s famed ghost festival, returns. Blending Buddhist ritual, animist belief and exuberant folk performance, the festival will take place from June 20–22, 2026, as part of the annual Bun Luang and Phi Ta Khon Festival.
